Avon Community Swim Team – Age Group Coaching Positions
This position is open immediately for the Short Course 2011-2012 season, and will be filled when the ideal applicant is found.
Club: Avon Community Swim Team has served the west side of Indianapolis and Hendricks County since 1986, operating out of the Avon High School Aquatic Center, an indoor 25 yard facility constructed in 2003. The club is approximately 200 members strong and is positioned in a growth area. ACST’s mission is to promote the sport of competitive swimming through the principles of hard work, dedication, mental preparation and technical excellence.
Position: ACST is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as lead group coach with the club’s developmental athletes ages 8 and up, and assist with other groups in the program as directed by the Head Age Group Coach and Head Coach.
Responsibilities: This is a part time position, offering up to 10-12 hours per week. Duties include evening practices Monday through Friday and possible Saturday morning practices, and meets when scheduled for swimmers in the respective training groups. Regular staff meetings are scheduled to ensure continuity in teaching and communication. Coaches are expected to keep accurate records of group attendance, work hours, and practice logs.
Qualifications: Applicants (if not previously certified) must be willing to complete certification in CPR and water safety and become a registered coach member of United States Swimming, which requires a criminal background check. A college degree and previous competitive swimming and / or coaching experience are preferred, but not required.
Compensation: Pay will be based on experience and qualifications. Coaches will be compensated for traveling to meets (mileage) and Professional (certification) costs and continuing education (certifications, clinics, etc …) costs will be covered by the club. All ACST coaches are strongly encouraged to continue their professional development.
